Cooler with ice and plenty of water, as well as bread and bologna / cold cuts. Always worked great.

Huh? They're using 22% (saying its 20%)?

I NEVER even look at these. I take at LEAST 15% (for buffets or terrible service), or 20% and up, sometimes rounding it up as kindness.

Also if the bill is with a credit card, and I got cash for the tip amount, I put the cash for the tip (saves them 2 or 3 % credit card fee).

Wait??? Is that "tip table" showing the "credit card fee" added to the percent in the amount??? Huh?

Dont bother posting anything "cool" or "epic" on Facebook. The people just aren't interested and / or neither is their algorithms.

I had epic footage of a (uh umm) daytime category 5 hurricane in HD and full pictures and chase log (Michael in last Oct) and I got 1 hate message and a few likes (unlike thousands of comments that someone else got posting more BS about our president).

This most I'm writing here will probably get deleted or reported. Ugly...

BTW, John Planco, your posts were just awesome. I mean it!

I grew up looking t these iconic buildings. I was up in them many times with my grandfather until 1985 when I lived there, and last in them on Sept 6, 2001 (YIKES!!!!!) when I visited NY on Labor Day weekend 2001. After 9/11 and those "cowards", I began a downward spiral losing my job as a IT guy at a prestigious aircraft / jet engine metal supplier, struggling for years afterwards looking for work with my life (and mortgage) upside down. Oh my ... Who would imagine? I absolutely HATE "hate" and terrorism.

Will Wilkens Yeah but contrary to Jack Corso, I managed to sleaze my way out of taxes and the only "pinch" I am feeling out here is from the cost of fuel. I still have my "base" in FL, which is my dad's house and both him and I are on the will after my mom passed. So I basically have a "permanent" address there. My insurance for my car, my registration, etc all go through that address, which is like 1/5 the cost had I transferred it here to CA. Also, I am basically a "long term visitor" here rather than a true resident, and staying at a spare place a family friend has renting it for nearly nothing. So its "California" less the "hassles of California".

Plus the remarks about me and nearly losing my vehicle were not very nice at that hotel. After the storm I helped them, putting aside profitable aftermath footage and instead using my vehicle to clear debris with the winch, even helping a lady back to her place. So much for me being nice (you're very welcome anyway). Ever since then storm chasing has been a wasted and frowned upon activity. Horse shit.

Posted: Oct 11, 2019, 10:30 AM

Chris Collura replied to Brian Dombrowski's comment.

I love the part where those hotel guys dissed me since I was upset about my Jeep being crushed under the collapsed portico of the hotel. They remembered that, while anyone hardly remembers the awesome video and pics we got. And I did put down the camera afterwards and used my winch to clear a lot of the debris for them (you are welcome). Lovely.

Glad you went for this one as you haven't even been out there this year at all (W Pacific). I see its over-hyped as a storm of that intensity wasn't near Tokyo in a while (but I still think it will bill up to "Florence" last near in NC at landfall in terms of intensity). Good luck.

I am out here right now and winds (Santa Ana) are gusting 40 to 50 MPH (hot and dry). Ill probably be chasing these fires - Just waiting for some smoker-tard to toss his cigarette butt out the window off Highway 91 or something :(

It IS HUGE ... It extends from Japan and almost around to the W Pacific with 90% of the world in it. Nothing will develop in that. The typhoon in the W Pacific is the smaller storm going around the global dry slot.

About this time a year ago, Tim Millar, @[1610340277:2048:Derek Sibley] and I were venturing out of the hotel in Calloway, FL during the calm eye of category 5 hurricane "Michael" on October 10, 2018. In this picture debris impales cars as the sun peeks out overhead with blue skies during Michael's eye around noon.

One year ago I was with Tim Millar, Derek Sibley, and Doug Kiesling in the eye of category 5 hurricane Michael on Oct 10, 2018. One year later (NOW) the Gulf of Mexico - Although warm - Is dominated by an air column that would shred apart anything tropical attempting to develop in it.

Yeah I posted it again and it wasnt removed.

Posted: Oct 9, 2019, 9:47 AM

Chris Collura commented on iCyclone's photo.

Its tempting to chase this since I'm in S Cali now and tickets are cheaper there last minute compared to east coast like Florida (but longer flight ofcourse).

The bust potential is high due to cooler waters and shear tearing at the storm as it nears Japan Oct 12 or so, plus on JTWC the tracks trended east again (may recurve). So I'm just as confused and tempted as anyone.

If most likely wont be more than a minimal cat 2 / strong 1 equivalent IF it nears Tokyo area.

Posted: Oct 8, 2019, 4:52 PM

Chris Collura commented on iCyclone's photo.

I was wondering if you are going for this one? But I doubt it's going to be strong when it reaches Japan - Especially with the small core (unless it undergoes eyewall replacement cycles and expands).

These tiny storms can rapidly change in intensity (like Charley in 2004 or Wilma in 2005 in the Atlantic). This storm was no exception with the tiny core.
