Not going to any stores until tomorrow, and I'm not doing Christmas shopping until mid December. These two days turned out to be all about money and greed, which I want no part of.

I wish everyone a good Thanksgiving, and hopefully spending quality time with friends and family, and not in a long line of discount hungry shoppers.

Chris Collura commented on LAX's video.

The car rental situation there now is a living nightmare. I've spend hundreds more flying into Orange County SNA to avoid LAX.

You have to grab a shuttle bus, which can take 45 minutes just to get out of the LAX airport itself, and go to the rental cars, which are miles away from the airport near Century / Imperial and 405 in sketchy neighborhoods.

These car rental places han have 100 people waiting and it can take hours just to get your car - Just in time for the core of the rush hour. It's a long, painful, and drawn out process.

Henry Dinh Le I dont. It's time for friends and family. I'm not gonna be like my dad and skip it.

My mom always cooked and had the whole family together. But cigarettes took her and that away from me.

Normally I just cook a Turkey and sit by myself eating it. With a picture of my mom in front of me.

My turkey decorations are up now. There is still a Thanksgiving at least for me. Just reminds me of long gone family and focusing on love and cooking with friends and family, not rushing out and stabbing ones way to the front of a line / dodging pepper spray at Best Buy only to get $50 off on a teevee. Leave that chaos for Dec 1. That's when put up my tree.

I haven't ate there in years. Despite there being 3 around the corner from me. Plus I heard about their bigotry years back and that's why i never ate there afterwards.

Plus they are closed on Sundays, WTF? That much of a bible thumper? But still this certainly should not foster bigotry of ANY kind.

I actually told DOZENS of people about this and they stopped eating there. Subway has better chicken sandwiches anyways.

But the last time I commented on a folk on here losing his legs and mobility due to diabetes (on Facebook) my post was deleted and I was flagged for spam (losing my ability for 99.9% of "others" to see my posts afterwards). But yeah (meanwhile...) That condition sucks.

Each morning I see Facebook I see umpteen messages from "ambulance chasers" (aka lawyer bottom scum dwellers) on suing companies on HIV medications. So what can we do?

Its "Facebook" and that's what it is.

Karen Roberts Yeah I'm not sure if Josh with iCyclone was in Charley as well. I was with a group of about 5 chasers and we were at the courthouse in Punta Gorda right next to the bridge to Charlotte Harbor. It was insane. We were in Michael (cat 5) last October and Josh had his film crew there as well. Great group of folks. Chris Collura replied to his own comment.

Matt Sellers Yeah I agree on that one. I didnt regret missing that as I had the Peducah stuff already, and most who saw the Mangum one didnt see the Paducah storm anyway. You simply cannot be in two places like that, let alone with chaser traffic and a river thrown across your path (Red River).

Plus after the Paducah and Mangum tornadoes that was about it, and then a messy MCS / squall line is what pretty much all we got out of such a high risk day.

Posted: Nov 14, 2019, 8:08 AM

Chris Collura commented on Brandon Clement's post.

Crazy stuff. I surfed when I was younger and caught a 15 to 20 footer in Palm Beach, FL in Oct 1991 (perfect storm generated) ... It felt like falling off a high building, stomach and all, with a mountain of water behind you. I cringe thinking what these guys deal with. It's basically the "mount Everest" of waves.

Posted: Nov 14, 2019, 8:04 AM

Chris Collura replied to Nick Drieschman's comment.

Brandon Clement Each doubling of wave height is 4 times the energy, it's a square like kinetic energy. A 60 foot wave is like 9 or 10 times the energy as 20 feet. Also a mere 3' wave can generate 34,000 hp as it breaks along a mile of beach. So, humm, 60 feet = 30 times the SIZE of a 34,000 hp wave and 900 times the energy (~31 MILLION HP "rolling over" someone) = Holy $#@!

There was a similar scam going around a few years ago for movie tickets. I didnt realize it was a scam after it was too late and shared the page.

It wound up flagging my FB account (so when I post stuff less than 1% see it regardless of how epic it is), unfriended by dozens of people, and even emailed / called and cussed at. And I never got any free movies.

People who run scams like this need to be THROWN IN JAIL, period.

Good evening, David Hoadley, and of course thank you for your service as well. It's amazing that many of those areas were war torn during the conflicts in the 60's and 70's. Many of those areas I was in (Da Nang and Hue) were major battle zones back in those days. I remember reading about people actually so desperate to get out of Da Nang as it was seized that they tried to jump on a jet plane as it was taking off (one of the last flights). Crazy history. I wonder how many un-exploded mines and ordinances are in the rain-forest surrounded by that recovered and beautiful culture?

Nice to see those survivors out there from Haiyan (Yolanda). That storm was just ridiculous.

It was OK but I used it off peak. Maybe 15 minute wait to get Uber after joining the line. But it was confusing which "letter" to line up at until I found the line all went to same place. It's a matter of time until its streamlined. Just be patient. Beats that 45 minute crawl through the terminal loop.

Chris Collura replied to Clay Patrick Mingues's comment.

Clay Patrick Mingues Panda Express is simply an adulterated version of "American fast food being called 'Chinese'!"

Any good food is in the China town or Vietnamese areas (or such, since many Americans only thing "Asian" food is "Chinese", as there are dozens of diverse Asian food fares).

Also PF Changs is a disgrace too. That's americanized and an embarrassment to Chinese food.

I noticed nearly half the Pizza Huts I went to when I was chasing were all closed for lunch (with other customers walking up to the door and like "WTF?" as it was locked = at like 12:15 PM) ... Almost all of them sit down restaurants with "Wing Street" :(

Also I managed to find a few for their lunch buffet which is almost empty, with only Hawaiian pizza and never any garlic bread (just the sugar cinnamon crap), and absolutely aweful service ("oh yeah we will bring some more out" and 20 minutes later nothing) ... So yeah, like Burger King and Sears, they are probably on their way out for obvious reasons...

Brian Stertz Yeah I saw that storm from about 50 miles away and its radar presentation and totally ignored it, heading west towards the isolated storm to the west north of Hayes nearing Beloit that was classic and a cyclic tornado producer. Skip Talbot was actually on that storm and no where near the Lawrence HP. Unfortunately I could not catch that western storm in time and it was just an MCS when I got to it. But still, had I gone east towards the HP storm I'm sure I would not have seen anything let alone put myself in danger.

I missed this one too as I messed up that day targeting the area east and south of Salina, later blasting WEST for the Beloit storm which was a classic storm that I arrived too late on. I had no interest in the Lawrence HP and not regretting I missed that one (despite turning away from it to go west instead).

Chris Novy As for the client hurt, I assume they paid for their medical treatments out of pocket / using their own insurance (most likely whom didn't pay a single cent = Insurance is notorious for NOT paying after all)?

This is like skydiving or other extreme sports where a waiver is signed and often hastily by those excited about engaging in that sport or activity.

I know an airlift alone (one was flown to KC by helicopter) can cost $5000 or more. I know because I paid for that in 2006 when airlifted for an accident just before Christmas which a truck driver hit me (his fault) overturning my car. Fortunately the person at fault covered it, but my own insurance did NOT.

Jack Corso Wow ... Bohacks - I remember that grocery store as a kid.

It was adjacent to a "Robert Hall" - Later became a TSS (Time Square Stores), then "Caldor", and of course ultimately, Wal-Mart super center. It was off Metropolitan Ave in Queens / Middle Village. Parking was on the roof and a big escalator would go down to store level. Kinda cool.

Usually any bad kids whomped my ass near Walbaums (or if not there, King Kullen / Edwards). At least it was just spitballs and / or hand over fist. No guns. Haha!

Chris Collura replied to Starr Danielsen's comment.

Starr Danielsen Its a hassle and can take at least 30 minutes to just get out of the terminal area(s) then on to jammed roads.

If you are taking a shuttle bus (to car rental places, none of which are near the airport terminals) you'll spend a LONG time in the terminal loop, then jammed back roads to those facilities. Then wait in a line that's literally 50 people (where just one person - who probably never rented a car before - can take 20 minutes per agent).

If I have to go through LAX I make sure it's like 11 am, mid week.

For Uber / Lyft they just opened a special area for that this past week. Cuts the terminal traffic in half. One step of dozens to go.

Or AVOID LAX entirely and use Long Beach LGB / Santa Ana SNA airports if you can!

Posted: Nov 1, 2019, 10:25 AM

Chris Collura commented on Brandon Clement's video.

I absolutely hate LAX. The trip from their so called "off site" rental facility to the airport itself takes you through seedy back roads in aweful traffic. It's a joke. No rental cars are near the airport itself.

I usually try to fly out of Santa Ana (John Wayne) airport in Orange County. Its 25 minutes out to SE of LAX and never any hassles. American and SW fly their too. They that one...
