I dont get this ... Bunch of people panicking and no one helping. The boat was in no danger and the other boat was on fire. I would have jumped in the water and tried to help. So sad and tragic when people take a front row seat to death like that :(

David L. Saurer That makes sense. When a cold front / gust front passes over large body of water we get fog and fast moving low clouds. Looks menacing.

Great for airplane flights. Order a can of your favorite soda and mix it up. I bring 2 or 3 of them, TSA says nothing. Just keep in pocket or seat pocket when on the plane and its that easy. Don't let flight attendants see it. So that's like 15 to 20 dollars saved right there (airlines charge 6 to 7 bucks for a watered down drink)!

Chris Collura is feeling depressed.
Not feeling all that great. Seeing that stuff way out in Montana (large photogenic tornadoes) on June 28 was (and hopefully is) my final blow to utter disappointments the late part of the 2018 chase season dished out.
With failed setups, caps, and / or MCS ruined days plaguing me ... And the big tornadoes occurring in non outlooked areas or on the only few days I could not be out there.
I should say a big congratulations to anyone who saw tornadoes this season as doing so took a huge amount of patience, luck, and of course - money.

This was my final blow mentally for me in 2018. Right after I finished chasing on June 25. Like I said, I wasnt there ... And if I was you'll see a squall line gust front instead :(

No one mentions the problems of depression nor mental illness - rampant in the USA. Humm. Interesting.

Chris Collura replied to Jane M. Kuhbander's comment.
Jane M. Kuhbander That's right. You dont have to fire the gun. But people wont threaten or hurt you because you have it and you're just a normal person protecting what you care for. And if you're life is in danger and you have to use it, then its there.
My dad a year BEFORE I was born was NYPD. Someone tried to kill him, so he shot in self defence. This saved his life.
And ... Since I would havent ever been conceived in the first place since it was a year before I was born ... That "gun" is why I'm here myself in existence :/

David Gold Maybe your right. Let's hope SPC reduces the tornado probabilities to 2%. Its 5% now but was 10% earlier.
That's a very encouraging sign for violent photogenic wedges. The lower those probabilities are the better...
Posted: Jun 28, 2018, 1:41 PM
Chris Collura replied to Tim Marshall's comment.
I seriously thought that was the day after I left tornado alley in the same town i slept in the night before in a less than 2% outlook. ND looks good (on paper) today. Storms there will fire all over the place.
Posted: Jun 28, 2018, 1:39 PM
Chris Collura replied to David Gold's comment.
Yeah but last week and few other "high end" possibilities suckered us into buying hundreds of dollars in gas.

I has a chance to go but didnt. Last week I drove 3000+ miles to see a messy MCS and cap bust and tornadoes occured in my backyard a day after my return and when I was in Florida 2 days. Me not being there in ND means it will be amazing. Good I'm not there to kill it again for those who went.

Brief visit to night club early last time in south Florida. Had a drink or two. Not all that busy ... But the highlight of the night walking out was seeing this "heated and enraged" guy walking fast, bumping into me (and not excusing himself), grabbing someone's drink off the bar and smashing it on the floor (with ice cubes and glass flying) saying "I dont know how SHE could DO THIS to me!!! After we were together for THREE months!", while running out all "tipsy" and stumbling ... I love it!

I'm in Florida from yesterday to tomorrow. Needed to make sure chasers would catch something (i.e. Eureka) since I'm not out there JUST these couple of days.
I'll go to the Dakotas and there will be a cap or MCS to squash anything if I'm there. Kinda burned out anyways.
Posted: Jun 27, 2018, 1:56 PM
I guess I should say I'm finished with active storm chasing operations in the central USA for the season (I was Chicago based and chasing setups when I was available from late April to June 25). So outside of quick chases, maybe Hawaii, and hurricane chasing, I'll be back to Florida by July 9. I thank my friends and temp job in Chicago as well for putting me up there!

Yeah I kinda given up this year. Out for these week long stints from Colorado to the Dakotas and once I get back a marginal setup becomes enhanced and tornadoes happen right where I was a few days ago when I was out there. Then I go back out and its meh.

What's so bad is that those pilot car zones "concentrate" traffic (like a medical oxygen concentrator)!
You'll be going along with no one in sight at 70 MPH ... then you hit that zone and theres dozens of big trucks and RVs there.
So when you FINALLY go you now have slow un passable traffic / big vehicles ahead of you.

Jack Corso Close. I94 southbound out of Mikwaukee. Took an hour just to get on it since they just closed all the entrance ramps and detoured all traffic into the ghetto.
Signs would say "go left", so you follow them, then get to ramp and its coned off with another detour sign saying "go left" ... Then go left and youre going in circles!!!!
I said "f'ck this chit" and just drove south until I found an open ramp. The SIGNS DONT WORK.
Schwinn "detour" :(

Yeah but wasn't in much of a hurry though. Going through sandhills it's up and down and you're doing 50 over the top and 75 on the bottom.
Same BS in 2010 in OK when on bottom of hill cop flies over the top going the other way and (sure enough) theres him doing a u turn and red and blue lights.
The one in 2010 even searched my vehicle (rental) because he said theres a "meth problem" in that area. No ticket that time though. Just an embarassment.
