Stuff there is so poorly constructed. This probably was barely an EF-1. Crazy footage.

I wonder if this was from a boundary interaction, orographics, or even a waterspout coming ashore?

Usually I know right away...

1). I know who you are and I'm not interested. Please remove me from your list!

2). The last person calling this address died a gruesome and gorey death! Ever see Hostel? Or Saw? ... Well then remove me from your lists!

Both responses above seem to work.

Total BS and this is a known scam. There's even a flyer hanging on the wall at my workplace lounge about this same IRS scam.

A very similar scam is someone (usually with a thick Indian accent) claiming they are with Microsoft support may call and ask you to install something on your computer (via a download or support session) ... if this happens, a virus or malware is installed, and they run a scan.

To remove it, they say you need to BUY a program to fix it, and charge your credit card, sometimes hundreds of $$$. Some cases, the virus wasn't even removed once planted.

Unfortunately many people (usually ones less savvy on computer security) have fell victim to this.

The down right PISS OFF moments on Facebook is when I'm commenting on a post, I have to exit Facebook, usually to download and edit a picture to use in my post.

When I go back in, I'm placed at the top of the news feed and when I scroll back down to where the post I wanted to comment on, it's GONE (but the post above and below it ARE there)!

This makes me either want to throw my smartphone against the wall OR just delete Facebook. Fix that shit !!!!

Chris Collura replied to Beverly Mowry's comment.

That's right. This is a tragedy, not a joke. A young woman doing an amazing sport with most of her life ahead of her is gone. Very sad...

And for those who want to call the sport dangerous, let's look at some numbers. About 1,200 people die each year on Illinois roads, mainly the congested interstates (I90 and such) near Chicago.

A typical skydiving year we lose maybe about 5 to 10 people, and MOST OF those are pilot error while landing their chutes trying to do a risky maneuver, not their "chute not opening". Football causes more injuries than skydiving as well.

Posted: Jul 26, 2016, 6:27 AM

Chris Collura commented on KWTV - NEWS 9's link.

This can happen, and a good gear check could have prevented this. Just have an instructor double check your parachute rig and harness after you put it on. It's just a second double check.

I've seen many times during a gear check where the skydiver forgot something. A buckle on the leg strap, un seated reserve D ring, and, most scarey, they forgot to do their chest strap. This can cause you to fall put of the harness.

Also some skydiving gear ain't designed for free flying (unusual attitudes and speeds achieved such as head down, sit flying, etc). If gear fails or malfunctions during such speeds (over 200 mph instead of "just" 120) things like your parachute handle being pulled accidentally (or blown open by the wind) could break the chute lines ... and break YOU too.

Also, some cases where skydivers were found "away" from their gear were suicides. Can't rule out every possibility. People who do this usually don't show signs of depression.

...About it being hard to find someone who is missing...

Many times during skydiving I landed out, meaning a mile or so from the drop zone. A quick ride back is needed.

Most of the time we are not OVER the drop zone during the skydive, but under canopy (steerable square ram air parachutes), we make it back easily (we can go almost a mile after opening at 3,000 feet).

So if someone doesn't open or has a problem, I can see how they would land in an area that may be difficult to search (trees, buildings, swamo, etc).

I've seen skydiving gear that was jettisoned (such as a malfunctioning main chute, which is quite large) land in a field not far from the drop zone, but take over a week just to find it or get to it.

Yeah I'm sure it's a big endeavor to move anywhere like that. But even dating ... my type of people here are the most difficult to meet - like if I had some sort of stigma or something. I'm concerned about all the other things going on (I'm 46 and still single, no one talks to me anymore on any dating site). The once so nice Chicago has gone downhill. I never imagined that in 2014 - ever.

I have just about had it with the way people have gotten here lately in this country. Un F'cking believable. Rude, insensitive, treat our friends, co workers, and family like shit. Shootings (don't go there). Come on guys... grow up !!!I'm worried because I'm seeing these changes happening in a very short period of time (2 to 3 years at most). Everyone's looking at looks, age, and money when dating. I seem to be the only one left who says "please" and "thank you". I say good morning at work in the morning and hear nothing back. You gotta worry about our safety. Ugly.I try to wake up every morning so happy I'm here another day, all happy and excited. Then I see the news on the TV in the lobby. Say "Good morning, Frank" ... And hear ......... (nothing). Good mood stops there.I noticed some cities had this "pattern" first. Miami seemed to be like this since the late 90s. California got like this in the past 3 to 5 years. Chicago had a welcoming and nice crowd, but that ended in 2015 or so. Places like Toronto is still ok, as well as few and far places in the USA, like Wichita or Amarillo. I've heard comments from Canadians saying the USA is headed towards a new civil war.Even personally. Here I do my job, make up missed time, always polite. Go over in details with my boss here, and he gives me a tone if he has to repeat something I already agree with him on. Says good morning only to the full time people here. Nasty. Today he mad an ass out of me in front of a bunch of people. I got so miffed with him today I had to take a walk. I was close to breaking something. Not me.Like a dark tunnel with no light at the end. What the F'ck is this country getting itself into???Place: Chicago, Illinois (41.883222, -87.632496) Address: Chicago, Illinois

Yeah, Doug Kiesling, it seems it went way, WAY downhill here the past year. Even the people here now have a Cockey, shit don't smell, stuck up "Florida" like attitude here. Surprised and disappointed. Still closer to the tornado alley though than paying $1000+ for airfares.

But I think this is all of the USA in general now. People just scared and uptight. California is a mess there too, also recently like Chicago. In Toronto or Canada in general, people there STILL nice and respectful.

Wait until Trump is in office and we all die.

Yup. It's (I 90) rated the worst bottle neck in the entire USA with 5 times the delays as the second worst (405 in LA). Traffic starts at 4 AM and ends at 10 PM (only IF construction doesn't close most of it overnight), with no let ups between morning and noon, nor evening.

I hate shuttle busses. Murphey has a field day with those...

The last time I arrived here in MDW, I see the bus sitting there for the economy parking. I start running. The bus sat there until I was 20 feet behind it, with me still running, and took off. Douchebag.

It was 25 minutes before the next one too. I imagine the driver who hates his job, laughing at me waving and running with my roller bag, in his mirror, and says "screw him" and keeps going.

LGA absolutely SUCKS for delays. I don't think I ever seen anything leave from or arrive there on time.

In fact, every time I fly I chuckle when I look at the flight status boards and the "prominent" red or delayed areas are almost always, and only, "LGA" :)

Amazing how there's more division in Toronto, Canada - Wait, let me rephrase that: MORE DIVERSITY.

There, despite massive multicultural and mixing of races, there's NO violence or anything like here...

You see no one fighting, and everyone there is nice. None of that crap I always rant about on FB ... I'm convinced what's going on here in the USA is hurting everything we enjoy - even socially.

... Maybe take them (Canada) as an example and F'cking GET ALONG !!!!

I remember in 2004 in Charley each destructive gust was often preceded by a second or two of pressure in your ears. Andrew in 92 (miami) being the last similar feeling.

Probably mini swirls.

I see the smaller low pressure spikes on the baro trace too, especially near the lowest pressure trace.

Chris Collura commented on iCyclone's photo.

You were obviously on the steep gradient. Did your ears pop (lol)?

Awesome baro-trace! I saw the center just "jump" south of you at landfall.

I think when this hits mountains that high, it simply cannot go over them. It tends to slide along the foothills and just dissocates, with the upper and mid level portions of the storm continuing WNW.

I wonder if you'd see a FL wind (if a recon plane flew the storm) at 10,000 feet of still 140 knots, but like 10 or 15 at ground level after it passes the mountains?

Imagine the low level shear at that point (tornadoes?).

The core of these things is compact. Almost like a large oversized tornado. The 160 mph winds are in a rather narrow band, with the hurricane forced winds extending not far from that. Trust me, when that eyewall hits ... you'll know it :!

I've been seeing that. Downslope dry air possibly from the 9,000+ foot terrain. Similar to storms well north of Hispaniola weakening due to small amounts of dry air from mountains while still offshore. Also, and quite seriously, the landfall may be at night / sunrise.
