Yes, Jason Foster ... That's why I'm pushing to stay here as long as I can. In south Florida there are not many positive people anymore. Glad you are happy where you are.

Then we have to pick our way through price gouging or high demands - NOT related to chasing - Such as the oil industry (as Gene Moore mentioned), spring break, NASCAR, baseball games, etc ... These could be the difference between a $200 and $1200 airfare for instance!

Back to the scope of this thread ... I really think we have a lot of young chasers out there who are living with family (so rent - ugh, that word is worse than "ridge", living expenses, even a car - go core dad's car? ... are out of the equation). Then you have some very privileged people who inherited money (yes inherited money, not bills like most of what happens) from family or someone passing away. Also, I am totally for a small place to live. No big gigantic house with 3 mortgages or an apartment doubling it's rent with each lease akin to Moores law.

Hey Ben Holcomb ... The miles and points really come in handy for chasing! My job re-imburses expenses on my personal accounts so my points rack up during the off season. Also, instead of writing checks ... try paying nearly everything (possible) on your credit card if you have points to earn on it. One bill at end of the month, and before you know it, you got enough for free hotels / air.

Maybe they have mommy and daddy paying for it. Or some secret gofundme account.

Sucks that people everywhere can be such fucking jackasses.

Age and money are not the most important things a person can have.

Glad I have some good friends (the least in Florida, one best one in California, and Chicago).

Does anyone have a heart anymore (guess not)...

So much for anyone counting on a tornado-free March. It seems like there's some really bad energy, or witchcraft, or just plain shitty luck in Moore, Oklahoma.

Actually it's just because they're right in the worst possible area of tornado alley in the spring!

Sad seeing them get hit by tornado again (3/25). Not an easy place to live.

Hey Dalton Tuan Do ... I would have, but I probably could not endure the PAIN until then. Second, flying 2 hours made it worse - Let alone trans Pacific. I was really hurting ... People would have spend $10,000 for relief of that pain.

Chris Collura commented on his own photo.

Exactly Jerry Prsha ... It's also such a shame medical, dental, and vision are all separate. Nice if they were combined - but that's a whole other concept outside the scope of this thread.

On a different note ... Last year my jet ski (Seadoo) had engine work that needed to be done. I bought a 5 year extended warranty for nearly $2000. Last year they DENIED paying so the repairs, almost $6000 - Came out of MY pocket.

Later I found out (from BBB) that the warranty company was a type of "insurance". That figures!

Their goal is to take your money and sleeze any which way (but loose) out of paying.

Posted: Mar 25, 2015, 10:08 AM

In lieu of IFLS (I F-cking Love Science) ... We need a new one called IFHI (I F-cking Hate Insurance). Why do we even pay money to activate coverage when they DON'T pay? Notice all zeroes under the "insurance" column and all the "no's" to the far right.Very sad ... You pay loyally. Then when you need them they let you down. Sigh.

2 hours of yanking, grinding, tugging. Pain was aweful as novocaine had little affect. Tooth is out and bone graft in. Probably one of the worst dental experiences to go through. Had a steak I was gonna grill - that goes in the trash. No wine either. And I still have an apartment that's not even half packed. Sucks.

The first dentist ... as you can see in the X ray put a crown too large. Like a grown up's baseball cap on a little kid at Shea stadium :( ... The overhanging edge is where the decay set in over the years. That was $1500 in April 2012. I'll keep the tooth for good luck. Maybe it's worth as much as a boat if I put it under my pillow.

The sharp edges of wires or foil cause the arcing (from the RF field focusing / spark break out point). A metal bowl or spoon will do little, except if there is a small space between the utensil and the side / floor of the oven.

That's what many people don't realize about major weight loss. The skin stretches and grows WITH the girth. After losing the weight, the skin does NOT shrink back - it's physically in excess - and needs to be removed surgically.

Don't feel so bad ... here in the states we had our partial (60 %) over northern IL back in Oct 2014. There was a solid layer of mid level clouds in a N to S band over the western sky. A "hole" developed right where the sun was, and I spent time screwing around with my camera and missed the shot. Clouds filled in and that was it. So dumb of me. I should have known how to adjust the exposure on my Canon t2i.

Many people in Florida are shady and don't give a crap. Maybe if I was Cuban in would be treated better going to best buy that day. Yes ppl there are like that.

I stop by a local store here in town and I was told to go to another place specializing in AT&T / Samsung and was given a brand NEW S5 right on the spot, no questions asked ... they even put a new screen protector on it ... I was out the door in 15 minutes with data transferred and a happy man - Tipped the tech $20 for being loyal to his customers.

Why couldn't they do that at the "service center" in Florida?

I am ABSOLUTELY FED UP with fucking Android ever since the idiots at Best Buy upgraded my Galaxy S5 phone from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4. I have no idea what the hell these errors are (systemmui - WTF app is that) - YES I reset the phone (WITH battery out for several minutes) umpteen times and the same shit ...... Pandora "stopped working", then "gallery", then "text to speech engine", then I use the camera and my phone locks up and magically reboots - then the camera is fine but "touchwiz" and "travel wallpaper" stops working (these are not even in the app management screen) ...... "some other" app stopped working, a DIFFERENT app each time "stopped working", then exit (or reset phone) go back in and that SAME app works fine.I showed this IN ACTION to the IDIOTS at best buy Samsung "experience" center SECONDS after they updated the phone and they said to me "something I put on the phone" is causing the crashes. Never once did they address the problem. Then for 2 weeks it was perfectly stable. Rebooted once and no crashes nor problems - I was delighted, and cancelled the UPS to send the phone in for repairs ... And a week later it acted up again (see the image)!I will spend the extra $$$ and go back to iPhone. Fuck you, Samsung S5 / Android.BTW ... WTF is the "green squares" in these crashes too?

Ordered the iCom IC-V8000 75W mobile 2m VHF to replace my barely working 2100 2m mobile unit from way back in 2001. Gotta get ready for chase season!http://www.icomamerica.com/en/products/amateur/mobile/v8000/default.aspx

Sad and boring day for me here shaking off the last remains of my cold and flu from the past week.

Hopefully I'll see the St Patrick's day festivities in town next week with good weather and I'll not be sick. Hopefully not by myself either.

Have a good afternoon, everyone.

I noticed that too myself. Winter video sells good and is usually a local chase (lake effect, Feb 1 chicago.blizzard, etc).

Hey Jason Foster... that's been the pattern. You get a great deal then before you know it it skyrockets and you're getting ripped off.

Sounds like you're in a good place for NOW.

I was very young but lost in space was awesome. I loved the doctor and his panicking. In my day Star Trek next generation and Stargate SG1 were favorites.

Yeah Jack Corso ... Stay away from Miami and Ft Lauderdale. Other parts of Florida like Tampa area as Jason Foster mentioned might be good. As for Chicago I'm OK with that as I'm not staying IN the city. I'm in the suburbs. Been here over a year and don't see any problems.

Hey Mark G. Farmer ... Thanks. It also has a lot to do with my lifestyle (outdoors type, like 4 seasons, still single - that's a big cue right there). Also I work in IT and in over a year, absolutely nothing came from that area. If something did come up, it was a company that either low balled me or said they would interview me and then just vanish (Mona Mona Lowenthal Krimsky can attest to that ... With BA Aerospace in Miami)! Then came 2 to 3 years of hell working for a schizophrenic boss at an EDI company making half of what I should have been making, yet doing 2 to 3 people's jobs, and seeing my rent go up, up, and away (like the balloons in the movie "UP")! Then the "expensive" apartment was broken into. The hate messages on personal ads. Ugh. I won't miss that.

One last crash happened yesterday morning, just from going on here and clicking the "globe with a red circled 1" on it. Clicked it, nothing happened, the screen went black and phone rebooted - as if I turned it off and back on! After that I had to keep hitting OK ... TouchWiz stopped, then Settings stopped, then Google Play, etc. Etc.... blah blah. I powered off and back on and it hasn't crashed since. Not sure what happened?

Posted: Mar 6, 2015, 5:55 AM

Chris Collura commented on his own post.

Yeah Jason Foster ... sure ain't. I worked in Lakeland for a year back in 2005 to 2006 and it was MUCH nicer there. The Tampa area is pretty much the Midwest crowd anyway. Unlike the corruption in Ft Lauderdale / Miami.

I've officially put in my notice not to renew my $1800 (formerly $1420) lease in the hell hole so many call "paradise" (aka "S Florida"). Putting my belongings there in storage and forwarding all my mail up here (to a PO box) in Chicago. In early April I drive my car up here and work here until whenever (maybe September). My dad probably won't miss me much since he's got new G/F in the wake of my mom's death in 2012. Bye S Florida ... take your "warm weather and picky / clicky cold people" and SHOVE IT!

What a wacky thing. Try to open Facebook app, LG Fitness opens instead then closes. Reinstall both and THAT particular issue goes away. I was reluctant going to BB and I guess I got the kabosh on that.

AT&T offers nothing. I got the ball rolling and got a repair authorization for it ... warranty's good until June at least. Just not having phone or data for 2 weeks is frightening.

Posted: Mar 4, 2015, 6:53 AM

Chris Collura commented on his own photo.

I'm sending the phone in for repairs ... this is total fucking bullshit. All these problems happened right after the 4.4.4 update AT&T did for me Saturday at BrstBuy ... And after that they threw their hands up in the air at AT&T saying it was a Virus or something. Unacceptable.

Kind of my fault too cuz I was too fucking cheap to pay $9.99 extra a month for "geek squad" coverage.

Up until 1 AM ... With a souvenir from FL (a bad cold) and did a complete factory reset. Still getting these errors but not as often. Even more interesting, it still shows 4.4.4 on the version, not 4.4.2. The later versin -- HUP just got another one saying "Google play has stopped" typing this ... Where was I now -- Oh ... The later version (4.4.4) is what RUINED my S5 ... Any way to revert it back?

Wow did I speak too soon! The phone was successfully upgraded but now crashes 3 times as often, a different app each time (internet "stopped working", then "Gallery stopped working", then take a picture and it stops after taking picture button ... bricking the phone and requiring battery removal to get it back ... after that something else "stops working" after a few hours. I brought this to Samsung at Best Buy and they saw it first hand. Since El cheapo (aka "me") didn't get "The Geek Squad" protection plan ... I have to wait another year for new contract, buy a new phone for $400, or send it to Samsung and wait 2 weeks to get it back (no phone for that time). WTF happened ???

Trust me Jason Foster ... I already left it for a year. And DONT miss it. Maybe Tampa is better, but the "cold ppl and warm wx" mixed with outrageous rent has gotten old. Each year I'm increased 50 to 100 backs, and that was nervey. But this time I was worrying "are they gonna do it again?" ... And there it was, not 50, not 100, not even 200 ... Hah! Take that: $300 increase. Last straw, assholes.

I'll be back in the Chicago area Tuesday (March 3). Still not sure how long this contract will go. Planning on packing up my apartment here and putting it in storage. Meanwhile, come April, I'm bringing my car back up (for chasing) and have my high performance Seadoo up with me ... Maybe some fun on Lake Michigan this summer?

Still waiting for his thank you call. Like online dating and no response I guess. Sick of being a fool on saying "did you get it?" ... tried calling and kept getting his voicemail. Fuck I HATE voicemail. Finally I just left a message saying "you're welcome" and hung up.
