Hey Brian Dombrowski, you're OK in that area. It's farther south where the idiots are. Doug Kiesling can tell you a lot about the area from Okeechobee and points south of there.

Florida? What are you thinking? Have you learned from my experiences there?

Knievers ey? Crappy job and over charge. They must be from New York, or as Doug Kiesling would say it, New Jersey toll workers.

No tickets this time. An Oklahoma LEO back in 2008 nailed me with $150 ticket while on my way to exchange a rental with a cracked windshield from hail ... they know you're not gonna fly from Australia to fight a ticket, right?

Fucking idiots. More "Final destination" type horror movie material. The real horror is the manslaughter charges these idiots and the company will face. What a shitty way to go for the victim ... probably a hard working guy and with a big family trying to make ends meet too.

Hey Scott Hammel, yeah mine is highly flexible. I'm also open to spot chasing (like I did June 14-16 last year).

With chasing if you're not flexible - you are screwed.

And flying over / through the jet streams (upper support) to the north was making ppl on the plane puke. Moderate to severe turbulence!

Not that I'm complaining ... but severe storms today (4/27) in south Florida hours after I left there back to Chicago this morning :(

Posted: Apr 27, 2015, 12:28 PM

Moderate to heavy turbulence experienced between Florida (Fort Lauderdale) and Chicago this morning. Changed altitudes several times as it was hard to find smooth air, especially over Kentucky / Ohio / Indiana. Most of it was CAT (no, not the cute furry animal), for Clear Air Turbulence. Plane shaking despite sky being crystal clear and deep blue.

I actually spoke to a few folks while visiting Florida this past weekend and some had no idea what a hurricane even was. One even said "we used to get bad hurricanes here 10 to 15 years ago so we're good now" ... Complacency is back.

Fines for PODS storage for 4 days after "it can only be here for 24 hours" type of BS hidden fine print. $250 a day with the unit towed first and I re arranged the pickup date (while on the road chasing) from April 9 to the 7th.

Greeted with this on my trip here thisxweek ... Now I'm $1000 (4x250) poorer simply because I did not want to load a truck to storage place and PODS was so convenient (just load it).

I already walked up to THERE people in here looking at apartments - Told them my story - Watched them get back in their car and leave (with me biting my lips and trying not to laugh evily).

These scumbags absolutely know nothing about loyalty nor someone's situation. I'll dispute the charges on my credit card and take this to court if I have to. Fed up with this crap.

I think Verne Carlson is referring to NW flow storms. El Reno, OK (May 31 2013) was a SW flow event with the tornado moving SE for a brief time. With most NW flow environments, the issue is the anvil and precip aloft blows OVER the SE inflow and seeds it (cooling it). A right mover may actually move SW in such a setup! May 29, 2012 in Oklahoma (such as Piedmont) comes to mind...

I have come across these pumps from time to time. Usually your card gets rejected and you are asked to "try again" (at that point your CC number is recorded by the perp's device - NOT the pump)! If you swipe a card and this happens - ESPECIALLY if it takes effort to move the card through the reader (the malicious device in there takes up space in the gap, causing resistance making it hard to swipe the card) ... Report this to the attendant IMMEDIATELY. If they don't want to help, call the police.

Hey William Reid ... I remember back in Sept 2006 a tornadic supercell was approaching a dumb construction zone north of I44 near St James in MO. I think Mike Theiss was also on that storm, and got softball sized hail and damage waiting for the pilot car. I blasted east on a dirt road. These construction areas can really get you (or get you busted) ... literally.

Oh man ... no! No! Not the pilot car? I remember being stuck behind one of those with Jeff Gammons and Scott Blair back in 2005 for almost an hour. And we were in the front! Looming in the distance was a huge supercell that we arrived at 15 mins AFTER the tornado.

It would have been very painful to miss this - BUT - one big point is that often these significant events happen on days when you don't expect it. In my case I took off 2 days of work and chased into central Kansas (from Chicago) on 4/8 catching a tornado that lasted 3 minutes. The storm weakened after that. On 4/9, back in IL literally on the way home and less than 60 miles from my place after a nearly 2,000 mile trip -- This happened.

So we all will get something sooner or later. And YES ... There will be more photogenic tornadoes this year. Heck it's only early April ... For me, this was one of the earliest major intercepts. Hopefully the next ones this year won't kill and destroy like this one did. Trust me, when I came across the damage path near Kings, IL on 4/9, I wanted to vomit.
