Crazy dream about losing my job last night. Where I came into the office one morning and it was all re-decorated with fancy wall paper and my office among others was not there.
Then I was approached and handed a yellow cape to wear. Those in yellow capes meant they were fired and to leave right away with their boxes.
Those given a black cape were to stay and there was a Halloween party going on in the office so all the lucky folks were there, watching us in "yellow" and shame leaving.
I remember rearranging a printer or terminal and there was some website about vacation timeshares on the screen from someone else and I was accused for unauthorized use of internet, and was handed the yellow cape and told to leave, despite my pleading and trying to explain.
Then I woke up, late as alarm didn't go off ... but went into my office here and there were no yellow capes or rennovations. Only a dream...

Won't even visit such a place ... on par with the M Rouge area in SE Asia ... A place of torture, human experiments (like acid injection, high altitude vacuum exposure, cold water immersion, surgery with no anesthesia) where humans were expendible like lab rats there (since they were gonna die anyway). Horrible. The bad "energy" hanging over that city probably can be cut with a knife.

I was actually surfing near West Palm Beach in the swells created by the cold front. The plume and two smoke trails loomed yo my north for hours. It was a creepy sight seeing the trail rising up, then a big cloud where it exploded, with the two "pitch fork" trails from the SRBs blown free extending above the white cloud. Then the mid section of the trail, at about 30,000 feet, began drifting well ahead of the base and top of the plume (jet stream strongest at that altitude). Looked like a "V" on its side ">".

Here's my shot of a legendary blizzard. But I'm sorry to say this is NOT the one on Jan 27, 2015.This was taken in February (around the 7th) of 1978 on Long Island in New York. Thus storm dropped 3 feet of snow (over 30 inches) and had sustained winds of 86 MPH, with gusts to 111 MPH. Thundersnow was present with rates at 4 inches per hour. The picture is my dad trying to uncover his buried car (a Cadillac) with 5 to 6 foot snow drifts. Despite no school for a week as a kid, this was taken less hyped than 3" of snow in Atlanta would cause now.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble but WHY lately are so many weather officials and some chasers over hyping things (hurricanes, tornado setups, and now snow storms)?
These blizzards with 2 feet of snow happened many times in the 70's and 80's and are typical of New England. Yes it's a crippling storm but far from the end of the world.
What happened in Buffalo back in the end of November from the lake effect (nearly 5 times as much snow) was worse, but no one called that "OMG snow-megeddon"!
What happens when something really serious comes? Heaven forbid a massive category 5 hurricane moving into the northern gulf at 5 mph?

In addition to a fiber diet ... Metamucil works wonders. Just $10 at Walmart it lasts a month and pays for itself in toilet paper saved.Ever had one of those craps where you wipe yer butt 100 times and there's still chit on the paper? You know, where a big log is "pinched" 3/4 of the way through (as Chris Rock put it)! With a daily regimen of one spoonful of Metamucil, you'll get a clean 'break' every morning! Gone are the days of wiping and wiping and saying "aww chit" after you waste an entire roll of toilet paper! And you'll be healthier and feel like a new man (or woman) after a good clean dump!

Yup ... Like you're going 75 mph in the left lane with the speed limit 70, them some truck going 55 decides to pass another truck at 56 mph ... what you do?
1). Cuss to yourself and just wait 15 minutes for the truck to go back to the right, with you and 50 cars tailgating behind you?
2). As soon as the truck cuts you off, immediately pass it on its right - Oh yeah, don't worry, you got plenty of room between him and the one he's passing (it's only 1 mph difference - so the space is closing very slowly so you got plenty of time)!
On especially I 70 in Ohio / Indiana this was rediculous. Often my choice was #2 above :/

I've seen bioluminescense as a kid fishing and the tide was flowing out of a harbor in NY (stony brook).
Anything in the water lit up as the tiny plankton interacted with it. Putting a net in the water would light up greenish blue, revealing the outline of the net underwater.
Occasionally you'll see the water flash / light up in a large area (maybe a school of fish disturbing the luminescent plankton?) ... The wake of a passing boat also glowed as well as pilings from all the docks.
A time exposure of this would have been awesome, but it was in the early 80s.

Yes indeed ... It's an important holiday. It made me a bit sad only getting that day off when I worked in an area with a high black population (in 2008 Chicago's south side, or in Miami in 1999, Dayton Ohio in 2007). Better than a hallmark holiday (valentine's day, father's day, etc).

Lilapsophilia ... It's a real word meaning you like storms (tornadoes and hurricanes in particular). The opposite is Lilapsophobia (fear of such).Astraphilia means you like thunder and lightning (an astraphile). If you are scared of thunder, then that's astraphobia. So I guess if someone calls me a "lilapsophile" I should take that as a compliment.

This is a great convention but the only thing I haven't liked about it is the timing.
1). Usually near President's Day and winter break (airfare gouging).
2). Usually ON or near Valentine's Day. Fortunately I'm lucky enough with being single ... But since Valentine's is a "Hallmark Holiday", the timing can (and has) destroyed relationships (and sk Doug Kiesling about that part).
3). Location ... Denver is great and easy to get to for most chasers ... But those usually living west of the Mississippi River and east of the Rockies.
Free tickets had me on the "going" list.

Yeah but waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to breathe is different than just a cough. I really thought it was a heart attack. The price we pay to be safe than sorry. Cha-ching $! $!

Ok ... Savanna O'Hara Spencer ... Back in November I went into the ER for chest pain and dizziness. I thought it was a heart problem and I was in there for 30 minutes or so with a bunch of tests done. Turned out it was heartburn and caffeine withdrawal ... my heart and all blood tests were fine ...
... UNTIL a month later when I opened my mailbox and found a bill in there for $1,867 (with my insurance paying for the remaining $7000) ... My primary doctor "scolded" me and told me the same tests could have been done in a visit there with a $100 co pay.
Duh, it's safe to assume that either I'm in the wrong country, or the ER is a ripoff.

Wish you luck. My rent went from $1100 to $1500 in 3 years time down south (OK for the 2 bedroom - where one is used as home office - with garage apartment). I'm hardly there and have family staying and sitting the place after last year's break in in Feb. The lease ends in April, where I'll go monthly ... so difficult with lack of work down there, idiots, theives, etc. Lol.

Oh Jeez .. is that the freaking Dollar rental car place off Pena near Denver airport? ... Waiting in that BS back in May 2013 caused me to miss the Rozel KS stuff. I remember it taking 20 to 30 minutes PER PERSON to get through the line. And it's always people who never rented a car before / no credit card, takes sooooo long!

If it makes you feel better ... I tore a tendon in my finger and it had to be braced for six months with PT and hundreds of $$$ ... I was making my bed (yes, you heard that right - it was the way the fabric snapped and gave be "baseball finger"). Then broke my finger trying to catch a cheese tray falling out of my fridge. Nothing ever happened after 25 years of skydiving ... gotta stop making beds lol.

Wear multiple shirts and pants to avoid their crazy carry on fees. Yes, I've seen people do it. Their "size check" is also half the size as other airlines, like a letter box! Also Southwest, the opposite in terms of restrictions like this, are about the same in airfares as Spirit in most cities.

Thanks ... the Manchester storm can also be seen on Tim Samaras's pictures, although he was closer. The picture was 2003, but probably scanned in 2008, if that is indeed Manchester on that date.

Even Walgreens or CVS with the Minute Clinic can help if you cannot get appointment. The ER is a COSTLY last resort though, so get it cured NOW before you HAVE to go to the ER (and go 4 broke).

Not to scare you but the thing is the large red area surrounding the actual small "lesion". If there is an inordinately high amount of pain (where the "mark" appears small but the pain is "too big" for that mark) ... It can be MRSA (staph A) and MUST get looked at.
I had a tiny "pimple" on my hip back in 2005 and I tried to squeeze it (stupid!). In a day or two it was the size of a dime and red around it for a 5 inch radius! The pain was enough to make me dizzy at times, and I had a low fever with chills. In my case it was MRSA and had to be removed surgically and treated with antibiotics (sulfa) ... which I happened to be allergic to as well! Took months to recover with packing changed weekly. Scar still makes some folks at the beach turn heads.
My mistake was I tried to tough it out and waited TOO LONG too have it looked at by a doctor.

A few years ago I was laid off (2011) and collecting "un-enJOYment" for about 6 months. I trashed all those daytime shows and just started watching crazy youtube clips .. much better! I even downloaded a few and made a compilation of them. Much better use of my time (outside of chasing, as I was laid off right before chase season with a good severance).
