More retail rage during holiday shopping ... So you're probably right. Lots of stabbing (over line cutting, parking disputes such as moped in car parking spot, and failed discounts on last item someone beat you to).

My life saving back pack? Yup! Jump out of a plane almost 3 miles above the ground and this "back pack" saved my life 596 times! Once I leave the plane, I'm as good as dead ... UNLESS I do everything right! But skydiving is a fun sport, and we try not to think of that, and we trust the professionals who pack our parachutes!

Great time with family (dad, his friend, neighbors, and brother) here for thanksgiving. Deep fried turkey, mashed potatoes, chicken stew (my recipe), and the trimmings including wine and apple pie with ice cream topping for dessert! After that, off to Best Buy to see of there were any fights over discounts!End of line at 6:30 pm on Thursday at Best Buy ... What about your families? Lol...

Really missing my mom again. She was such a wonderful person. Speaking with my dad is getting more difficult as I try to say hello to him once a week. I get so down because he sounds so sad, and sadder with each passing week. His passion is football (and as you can imagine with the recent fuck ups with the Miami Dolphins, for him that's worse than me having a flat tire and missing Pilger NE on June 16). I am heading down there for just a visit (the big get together with cousins from NY was cancelled) and to get more crap cleaned up for an eventual move OUT of S FL and it's associated death zone (for me). Good night. ..

Only to find out their iPhone 6 was NOT discounted and all the TVs for half off are gone because "black friday" now starts on Thursday (and WHILE you were still eating turkey with family and relatives)! That's right ... Tis the season :)

I remember that season. From May 15 to May 28 I was out with Jason Foster and Jeff Gammons. We wound up seeing more non storm related sights that trip than in my entire storm chasing career (and sparked the idea of spot chasing rather than long "expeditions"). On May 15 after 2 weeks of tornado insanity ... We landed at DFW and were getting the rental WHILE the Stanton wedge was going on ... That was the last "good day" of 2003 :(

He is NOT GONE ... His physical body may be gone, but not his spirit ... He's in all of our hearts forever!

Yes, Tim Marshall ... this is a huge loss for all of us. He was not old either. This has been a very sad past few years losing another great chaser.

Hey Mike Theiss ... The ashes in a good hurricane will be awesome. Maybe many of us will be there! A chaser convergence is a chaser convergence, right?

Chris Collura commented on George Kourounis's post.

He was a mentor to many of us. His attitude and influence was beyond words. He was my inspiration for chasing hurricanes since before I even had my driver's license.

Tip was large when you measured the entire wind envelope (38 mph and up), not just the core. BTW ... great analysis on this, Josh Morgerman!

Chris Collura updated his status.

It comes with a very heavy heart this morning with the passage of Jim Leonard ... This is sad and he was a pioneer and role model for hurricane / typhoon chasing. He was such an awesome guy. Great storm chaser - His work, his personality ... picnics and BBQ at his place in the keys ... we will not forget this awesome guy! He influenced me in many ways and I'm sure with many others! RIP Jim and now you can be on EVERY storm!

I'm shocked about this. Jim influenced me beyond words. His inspiration and just personality. This will NOT be an easy loss - For MANY of us. I am speechless. Time to leave my desk and (sigh) take a walk...

Damage near Michigan City along lakefront. Tipped beach hut. The winds on 10/31 must been over 60 mph!
