Looks like my presence in Florida INCREASED the shear over Debby and killed the beautiful tornado / waterspout prospects (that we had 6-24) as well ... Sorry guys! I'll go back north and see if the shear stops (just kidding)!

You would think the THIRD named tropical storm of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season would have my name (tropical storm "Chris") on it and be something to chase? Nope, another storm far from any land and a weak system that churned away in the far north Atlantic. The 2012 tropical season has got off to a busy start, with two named systems BEFORE June 1 (the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season) forming in the Atlantic basin.Tropical storm Chris, the third named storm of the season, formed in the north Atlantic on June 19, 2012. It bothered no one as it remained well out to sea (what hurricane chasers call a "fish storm"). I was very close to making the trip to SD today for a spot chase. Looked like CRAP up until this morning. This year has been very hard to see anything good MORE that 12 hours before the "event". I decided to stay here in FL - I'll only KILL the setup if show up there with the WI curse from 5-25 anyway - I'll save free ticket for hurricanes / next year. I am sure whoever is chasing in E SD / W MN today will see a repeat of 9-16-2006 ;-)

The very start of the Venus transit in front of the sun (Venus is the little speck t0o the upper right). The picture is very blurred (shot through a deck of high clouds) and was the only shot I was able to get before clouds socked everything in. This was June 5, 2012 from near Miami, FL.

Moderate to severe turbulence about 25 minutes after leaving Denver. CO en-route to Fort Lauderdale, FL. This was trying to fly in between / over two violent supercell storms in the SE CO / W OK area on June 2, 2012.

Flight delayed a bit but waiting to fly back to Florida after seeing 60 to 80 MPH winds (straight line) rolling through Denver just before 3 PM when fueling the car at the rental return gas station. Lots of dust / airborne debris. On my way back to FL ... Thanks for everyone who chased with me and it was a blast!
