Nicole fizzled out but gave much-needed rain to S Florida. I see the "big hurricane" progged by the GFS is "gone" so I guess that's it for now. Glad I went to Bermuda.

It appears a whimpy named system "Nicole" will affect S Florida the next couple of days. One of those "still-have-to-work" and "traffic-jammer-upper" type systems that Miami is so notorious for (Bonnie in July was probably stronger, but we'll see). I just wrapped up updating pages for my (more worth-it) Igor chase in Bermuda. Meanwhile, taking it easy after wrapping up an awesome 3-month job in WPB.

Wrapped up updates to my web site and was able to get some amazing footage of one of my skydives (see the link below). Meanwhile I am relaxing and seeing how the 2010 hurricane season pans out. I decided to stay on FB, by the way

I posted some footage on my interception of hurricane Igor in Bermuda (Sept 18-21) at the new link below (chase log for hurricane Igor). I am back in FL and tending to my mother, who is in the hospital (again). She's not doing too good. This week is my birthday, I turn 41. Anyway, happt to be here and trying to enjoy l...ife to it's fullest. Most people wait until it's too late for that

I returned to the US (FL) from Bermuda on Tuesday evening, and back to my last week at work (end of my WPB contract - yep, 3 months already since early July)! Igor was a very interesting storm due to it's immense size. I will take a break from work for a little bit until the hurricane season ends.

Wow, still got power and internet with 80 MPH winds (gusting) outside right now. Pressure here is 977 Mb and falling fast. Winds howling outside. I also saw that errie green lightning (not powerflashes, as this was towards the south over the ocean). Posting some pictures of storm surge / waves I shot today. Igor may be weakening, but he's huge!

It appears Bermuda is in for a strong Cat-1 storm now, am am praying it does not weaken anymore. Just woke up in St george and the winds outside are starting to howl a little. Igor is appraching a bit faster and its core, or what's left of it, still is going directly over the island. Bermuda, as small as it is, is like a "mobile home park" to a tornado!

I am currently on the eastern side of Bermuda in St George awaiting late sunday's cat-2 winds (at least 100 MPH) from Igor. Hoping for one last eyewall replacement cycle to complete Sat night, if so, it could be a bit stronger. Eye still expected to go DIRECTLY over the island Sunday night ... But I'm enjoyng some Merlot red wine (yeah!) and I am chasing a "fish storm" and seeing Bermuda ;-)

I am leaving for Bermuda fist thing Saturday morning, arriving on the Island just after lunch! Sunday appears to be a strong Cat-2 or Cat-3 right over the island! Igor ... I'm coming ... Hope to see the rest of you all out there, I get back to FL tuesday.

I am currently planning to get to Bermuda as early as possible on Saturday. I am still waiting on the final "curve" the storm will take near (and hopefully across) the island. It's a small speck in a big ocean!

I am still not sure about chasing Igor in Bermuda yet. It's looking like a western eyewall storm now, like Earl was in NC in Bermuda ... I'll know by Friday or so. If I go this will be my first time there, so I'll be mnore than happy to chase with anyone going!

Contemplating if I will be going to Bermuda this weekend to chase Hurricane Igor ;-)

LOL - This ENTIRE F---ing hurricane season is FISH storms. I am so sick and tired of every storm missing the USA because of that sickening RIGHT turn. I am "readying myself" for "NO HURRICANE chasing in 2010". I will also be LEAVING face-book by the end of this month. From then on, all weather related posts will be posted at the SKY-CHASER.COM site and blog

I am leaving facebook soon ... Meanwhile, the tropics not showing much for any intercepts. Second, and most importantly, I will also be LEAVING face-book by the end of this month. From then on, all weather related posts will be posted at the SKY-CHASER.COM site and blog.

Normal weekend, still watching the tropics and crossing fingers for Gaston's re-generation. That's our only real hope for a tropical intercept this coming week or so. Went skydiving and visited parents / church otherwise.

Hurricane Earl is passing to the east of the outer banks of North Carolina giving chasers there the WEAKER side of the storm, a night-time event, and a weakening system. I was a go for this storm just a day ago, packed up and ready to head to North Carolina from south Florida. The chase was cancelled at the last minute... with both careful consideration and great deliberation

I am NOT heading out to chase Earl in North Carolina due to a NIGHT time closest approach (not a landfall there, unfortunately). Good luck to all who went up there. The tropics remain EXTREMELY busy right now, with at least three named storms out there in the Atlantic at the same time.

Still waiting on Earl's path towards NC but still in FL (decided NOT to drive up there because of nighttime storm, left (weaker) side and such). I have a cheap plane ticket handy in case I decide to go (to Raleigh). I HATE these "knife edge" storms. I know a lot of you guys are already there.

Seriously considering chasing hurricane Earl, but more and more not liking the "near miss", left side of storm, and - worst of all - a NIGHT storm (in NC) early Friday. Final decision to be made this evening. Not as excited as I was 12-18 hours ago.
