Logan Poole Yeah. The air itself is required for the fuel burnt to produce the expanding gases needed to run the turbines. The reaction force as these gases (as well as the air moved by the fan or prop) produces the thrust due to Newtons Law.
People are claiming jets run ONLY on compressed air. This is possible, but with the amount of compressed air stored in the space of an airliner available to do work would probably only last for 10 seconds and move the plane a few feet.
Claiming a jet airliner can cross countries or oceans using stored compressed air is just another joke.

Flat Earthers (and "faked the Lunar Landing"ers) aside, there's now a new group of people saying jet planes are flown using compressed air and not jet fuel. Rediculous.
The online world appears to be causing some people to just lose touch with reality altogether.

Supposedly you'll be close to (approaching light speed) in roughly 2.5 years at 1 g acceleration (9.81 m/s).
We did land people on the moon, right? Or do flat earthers also think that was shot on a stage too?
Some human intelligence is going BACKWARDS. Scary.

I had bad knee (bursitis flare) one time and the pain was excruciating ... AND of course - It was in another state during a holiday weekend.
To see a doctor at the ER: $1500
The medicines that made me feel 100% better: $15
Aggravation for seeing "covered by your plan: $0.00" : Pricele$$
If there's a clinic, go. Even CVS or Walgreens can help. Plus if it's the flu there's Tamiflu that is great. But I doubt antibiotics would help unless its bacterial.
Paying $1500 at the ER instead of $40 at a clinic (to get "permission" to buy medicines) is just f'ckd up.
Hope you feel better...

Methane is odorless but also lighter than air (about half the mole mass).
IF there's a rotten egg smell that's hydrogen sulfide (if the acid is sulfuric acid in some types of drain cleaner). Hydrogen sulfide is not lighter than air but a single breath of it can kill you. Extremely toxic.

Even with the "square of velocity" (for all you physics geeks), 5 MPH less won't justify the devastation inflicted to those in its path.

A warning to any avid photographer... Be careful when taking random pictures of public places (such as a busy city street, people on a train, crowd at zoo, etc)...
...It's a major guilt trip and quite embarrassing when a person approaches you and says "Sir, WTF are you taking pictures of me and my family for?"?
My case was a selfie and some people were behind me an accidentally "got shot" (wound up IN the picture's background).
There simply are people who don't want to be in a photograph! Period!
BUT I love taking pictures so my apology. Deal with it.

Tragic shootings continue across the USA as of 2018 - The most recent being very close to where I live in Broward County, Florida on Valentines Day (February 14) in 2018 at the Stoneman Douglas High School in Plantation, Florida (claiming 17 innocent and young lives). Crazed Nikolas Cruz (age 19) was the shooter in this cowardly act, using an AR 15 assault rifle. This raises the question on not only gun control, but assessing the severity and dangers of mental illness. Very little is being done to combat mental illness and provide help for mentally ill people, and if guns are banned, other means of terrorism or violence will be sought (such as bombs, vehicles, etc. used as "weapons"). This is the latest in a long list of shootings and terrorist acts (including those at the Pulse Night Club in Orlando, the Fort Lauderdale Airport, and Las Vegas to name just a few). These acts are doing nothing but invoking anger and a ghastly fear in almost every American. God help is all.

Yeah Jason Foster. Another problem kinda indirectly related (but important) is the demolition of older housing and replacing it with "luxury hi rise" apartments only the 6 figure folks can afford. Making a once affordable area out of reach just isn't helping either.

Check out that wind gradient (71 knot gusts off Cape Cod and less than 5 knots to the south) on the NAM fcst!
