Chris Collura commented on Rocky Rascovich's photo.

I wasn't chasing those few days so I missed this. I had to catch up with work and was dealing with the start of shingles and really felt awful that week health wise :(

I was out the week earlier so this was quite painful to miss (other than physical pain)!

Tell Patricia Doug Kiesling and I said hello (if she's still "intrested") hahaha :)

Chris Collura commented on Dave Lewison's post.

Some people on FB don't have much of a life outside of storm chasing. Or at least it appears that way.

Chris Collura replied to Mark G. Farmer's comment.

Yeah, Mark G. Farmer, Nothing against guys like that and the aforementioned "Phil" but when it's time to go ... we go. No waiting nor being held back by "coffee", the "mall", or not "doing #2 when you had many chances to do so before 'we left'"! This is how you MISS tornadoes. Even ones like Bennington in 2013 :(

Posted: Jan 31, 2018, 11:09 AM

Chris Collura replied to Mark G. Farmer's comment.

I remember watching that. Doug Kiesling was like waiting and waiting and "where the f'ck is Phil?" ... Meanwhile he doing yoga in his hotel room. Har har har hah!!!

Chris Collura commented on his own photo.

What I'm doing now is simply not taking on any friend requests unless it's a physical friend and not an acquaintance or inactive / blatant "ignorer", and also, I turned suggestions OFF. I simply got no time nor patience anymore with this kind of junior high school behavior.

If you NEVER wanna talk to me again ... Respond (pick up your phone or open your text) and say "Chris. F'ck you and stop texting me. I don't wanna talk to you anymore..." ... Don't say nothing and wait until I see you on here.

Posted: Jan 31, 2018, 9:41 AM

Chris Collura replied to Jason Foster's comment.

I've been doing that. In this case I didn't hear from her, thinking she lost my number, then I saw her on here and tried to connect that way --but it blew up in my face.

It hurts even more finding out that you were being blatantly ignored all that time, reinforced by personal attacks confirming it.

I f'cking hate (anti)social media sometimes...

Posted: Jan 31, 2018, 9:38 AM

Chris Collura commented on Doug Kiesling's photo.

Ouch. But Phil wasted DougKiesling's time and was no cooperation to chasing. He was always late and probable caused Doug to miss a LOT of activity. I'm a storm chaser and know what this is like too.

Did they stop over in Ireland too?

Posted: Jan 31, 2018, 6:33 AM

Facebook is great in many ways but quit putting "people you may know" in my suggestions. It's always putting faces and requests from people who I cut off (or even more who cut me off) outside of FB that I don't want to be reminded of.One I messaged after I stopped hearing from her but and was answered with pretty nasty messages (she ignored me since last year on regular text and phone). Thanks for stirring up the shit pot FB :/Place: Broward County, Florida (26.124354, -80.249503) Address: Broward County, Florida 33317

Chris Collura commented on David Hoadley's album.

Awesome work, David Hoadley! You are both a pioneer and inspiration.

I always respect the fact that supercells (and tornadoes) are NOT good "things". They can kill and cause tragic changes and losses for victims in the path.

I remember a drawing in the storm chasing handbook (the "empty room" I think it was called) showing a lonely woman (most likely widowed) from a tornado. A very touching image.

Chasing is a passion and even scientific effort. It is not a game or sport as some might see it. The worst experience anyone with a right mind set is witnessing immediate aftermath of a town being destroyed. It's the worst feeling.

I think you should present something like this post to an audience like at ChaserCon or the severe storms conference. Thanks for sharing this with us here!

Chris Collura commented on David McSweeney's post.

I saw a light change yellow and the person in front of me slam the brakes because she saw the camera. Nearly caused me to hit her and she spun out because of it. Luckily no accident but was a close call.

Later the same light camera got me, and $100 was fined in the mail. I had footage of the light yellow and wrote to ILDOT about it, but they denied it and slapped on a $25 fee plus a late $25 charge, making it $150.

Two other separate instances were $150 each, so from 2014 to 2015 these CROOKS got $450 off me. And you dont see it coming, just a nasty 'surprise' opening your mailbox months later.

This MONEY GRUBBING antic is not only selfish and stupid, but its causing MORE accidents, paranoia, and affecting traffic (people won't make R turn on red even though its allowed, fearing the camera is there).

A buddy of mine spray painted the lense of one of those with black spraypaint. Another used a rope around his trailor hitch and pulled the whole "ATM apparatus" down.

Hate when this happens. The expansions and "rejuvinations" to the nearby Sawgrass Mall drove my monthy rent from $950 to almost $1800 from 2010 to 2015. I since left there. Last week I saw those same places by Sawgrass Mall for over $2000 with even pricier places under hi rise construction (Yoo and Metropica). Total bull-shit of not leaving well enough alone.

Yeah, Jason Foster, airlines and hotels do indeed reward by patronage. Points are awesome, and when I was working in Chicago I had my share of these higher tiers with hotels (Wyndham points) and SW Airlines. There I didnt have to pay the upgrades. They came with the status.

Chris Collura commented on Dana Kavner Sibley's post.

There simply is not a reliable public transit system in Miami nor Fort Lauderdale. Buses in my opinion DO NOT count. They are "jailed" to the same jammed roadway cars are.

Other cities like NYC or Chicago have this all figured out. Its called a "subway" or "elevated" train system.

The last time I saw I 95 this bad was in 1989. Its horrible with the extra traffic and construction. Last year it wasnt like this at all.

I've gotton to the point where I "splurge" on the toll roads or take side streets such as Military Trail or Powerline / Andrews.

Posted: Jan 16, 2018, 3:46 PM

Chris Collura replied to Doug Kiesling's comment.

Hey Jason Foster, even worse on the ripoff carriers, such as American Airlines, you cant even choose your seats until you check in. And - You guessed it - Always a middle seat in the rear of the plane.

Then if you go online (or wait until youre at the kiosk or gate), youre CHARGED for the window seat - Or ANY other seat for that matter - When you try to cjoose it. Fees are from $40 to well over $100.

Now, get this, if you are their so called "Elite" or "Medallion" frequent flyer member ... All the FREE window seats and such show up. Basic members simply cannot see them. They're hidden from the lower "tiers".

Yes ... I asked at the gate too and was told "we dont have any of those seats left" after not paying $95 at the kiosk to change it. Had I did it online, it was $40 to do so. I assumed it could be done at the airport like many times I did last few years. Not now.

So basically your forcing new customers to pay more money.

Posted: Jan 16, 2018, 11:36 AM

Chris Collura replied to Doug Kiesling's comment.

Yeah Doug Kiesling, it sucks. $10 more in this case ain't a big deal, just a stinging reminder.

My health insurance jumped from $825 to $915 a quarter for a single non smoker in near perfect health and no deductibles met.

Insurance for my car also went from $650 to $850 and the last at fault accident I had was in 1999. LOL

Insurance is my number ONE ball buster. Rent is number 2.

Okay, lets put false missile threats and TrumpBashing aside ... The USA is in crappy shape for many more reasons.

One example is checking into SW Airlines and upgrading my seat (its, or WAS, $40), and well worth it, especially if a flight is full of kids and disabled guests.

I go to the gate and hear "oh, sir, it's $50 now..." and that they "just raised this THIS morning" ... Just rub it all into everyone's sores.

Inflation SUCKS ://///

They got this all wrong. Osteoporosis is bad stuff ... INSTEAD of falling and breaking the hips -- The hips are actually so brittle and fail under the normal body weight, and that's what causes the fall. I've seen this several times first hand. Even hearing the bone "crack" first, THEN the person falls.

Hi Ben Holcomb, Hotels are high that week because its winter break for many schools and Valentine's day. I proudly registered and paid full price for that, and always supported ChaserCon every year diligently. Just the hotel room because I had points for it (Wyndham super 8) and they expire next month if I dont use them. I dont have good rates nor points for the higher priced Marriotts or Hiltons.

A much warmer version of a similar process to lake effect snow. A persistent band of training and localized showers coming ashore all day in S Florida near Miami. In this case, cool air (50 to 60 deg) is passing over the warmer Gulf Stream current (75 deg or so). Differential heating at its finest.
