Leaving facebook ... I just archived all data and I'm out of here...

... Remember to chase storms via 'passion' and not money and "getting closer" than anyone else. Use your heart, not your mind.

Reach me at cdcollura@comcast.net ... Or find me (search: "Collura" and "Storms") on google. I'm not hard to find. Goodbye...

Praying for the victims in the Philippines ... Very sad stuff.

Congrats on the few daring folks who made it out there and chased it. Looks like those people now have 'the floor' for storm-chasing impression for a very VERY long time.

Still considering leaving Facebook. I think I may have gone overboard with some stuff I posted (even jokingly) or said. I think it's time to take a break and not be on here for a while.

Back here in Florida Palm Beach County got $100 out of me for not having a sticker on the right side of the PWC (SeaDoo) in addition to the left - never heard of numbers having to be on both sides. Never got a ticket (for a boat) on LAND.

Just heard that Josh M, James R, and Jim E are ok and evacuated (by Air Force C130 or boat) out of Tacloban and on their way home. They are extremely lucky and should have footage no one will top for MANY years.

I guess I'll shut-up now and not complain about my job anymore after seeing this man unclogging sewer overflow, Chennai, India.

Friday - Finally. What a crappy work week. Boss goes on a cruise and throws me under the bus - Nice.

Anyway, we anxiously await for some contacts from our chase buddies in the Philippines. Most likely it will be a while (power out, internet down, sat phone battery dead, airport gone). Give 'em time.

We pray they are OK ... But by the looks of the storm at landfall, it appears the core-flow of Haiyan contracted and jogged south away from Tacloban at the last minute - With the ring of strongest winds just south of Palo.

I guess time will tell on what really happened to them (Jim E, Josh M, Mark, and James R) - Hope they're OK.

About four storm chasers (Jim E, Josh M, Mark, and James R) are intercepting the dead center of probably the strongest tropical cyclone on record in Palo / Tacloban City (Philippines). This storm has 196 Sustained winds, pressures near 860 MB, and gusts over 250 MPH. God bless them and let's hope for some footage. Call Guinness while you're at it.

Time for those in Palo / Tacloban City (Philippines) to hang on!

Hurricane forced wind envelope is just about to reach them ... Increasing to core flow in about 1-2 hours (200 MPH gusts).

Time's up ... Crunch time - Wish I could be there with you all...

The chasers and folks in Palo / Tacloban City in the East-Central Philippines is just getting into the hurricane-forced wind envelope just about now in Haiyan. They are roughly 1 degree west of the eye (less than 75 miles) as of 3 PM EST (roughly 4 AM Friday for them).

Hurricane forced winds are about 60 miles from the center, with the 200 MPH "jet" probably confined to a ring a few miles wide just inside the eyewall and bucking up against the calm center. The next 6 hours will be rough for them...

Location of a few storm chasers (some from the states) in Palo / Tacloban City in the East-Central Philippines (SW of Samar) with SuperTyphoon Haiyan approaching. I see the airport would'nt stand much of a chance being on a peninsula - I worry for these folks safety (I'd be scared too if I was there) - But at the same time I'm envy cuz I'm NOT there.

Typhoon Haiyan is bearing down on the Phillipines now and could pack sustained winds of near 200 MPH or more as it comes in. Some storm chasers I know are there - Josh M, even Jim Edds I heard. Really sad I could not be over there - But at the same time I'm wondering would that have been a good idea?

1). You have winds like an EF-5 tornado coming over you for hours.

2). A bay east of Palo, shaped like a funnel - Opening into the open Pacific in the same direction the storm is coming in from.

3). You have 190+ MPH winds (sustained) moving at 25 MPH, and they will be on the RIGHT side of the eye.

4). Most likely the airport there - On a peninsula in the bay - will be destroyed. Palo will most likely be destroyed.

5). A long and lengthy "aftermath" of rubble and lack of food / water. They will be there for a while.

I'm a bit worried for their safety. We had Tim Samaras in May ... Please God let's not have these guys hurt.

Wish these folks from iCyclone ( @[1274967078:2048:Josh Morgerman] and James Reynolds) good luck...

Sitting here in boring Florida now ... Watching 3 chasers I know in Palo (Phillipines) including Josh Morgerman (iCyclone) group who WILL see a super typhoon's eye today (175-190 MPH sustained winds - Are you kidding me - They should be underground) - Anyway, I'm drooling...

Should I stay or should I go?

Sounds like a song (like Der Kassimar) ... Nope - That's my decision on my job right now. I am 1 inch closer to choosing the latter and saying 'go now' ;-(

Just found out persistant pain in my lower left side is the (very start) of a stomach ulcer. Sure - No chit. ey? My mom dies - No hurricanes - Typhoons raging 10,000 miles away - Boss does not appreciate anything - NOT a surprise...

... Theres my health and 'what I do best' ... I think I'll choose my 'health' :-)
