Another god damn cold ... I feel it, that scratchy (at first you think - and HOPE - it's just dry) throat, drink water - still scratchy ... Voila! A pre-cold!
This has to be the 4th time (in six months) I got sick (cold) and I am really getting sick of this!

What does a computer "Bug" actually look like? ... Here is an example: The 'Close Databases' statement was not supposed to be there...... Ofcourse, there he is, BMK in the comments @[1438695261:2048:Mona Lowenthal Krimsky] probably knows all too well.Ofcourse FINDING the bug took hours of my time - I thought I was a hero, then got a 1 hour lecture and scolding on why I interrupted my boss to show a mistake in his code.No good deed goes un punished - I just walked out and went home (my stomach hurt). Tough luck BMK...

Listening not to 'music' at work on my iPhone, but old recordings of my mom laughing, yelling, joking, talking, etc ... I'm laughing so hard - This is what is so good about someone 'leaving' with only good memories...

September 22 ... First time I EVER seen "no tropical cyclones" (not even any areas) in E Pacific and Atlantic basins AT the same time on NHC's page. Not sure what that "feature" is in the W-C Gulf moving due east (looks like stalled front).

WHY the FUCK can I NOT upload any images anymore? I updated Flash, I made sure it was on the same PC I updated stuff for YEARS on ... I even left three images to upload (says "uploading... Please wait") - "Please" my ass ... That was since last NIGH at 8 PM ... Still says uploading - WTF happened? FB support offered NO answers, and I checked Flash update, says I goit the "latest" version ... OK now what?

Decided I'll keep my mouth SHUT on this one...
... I'm seriously thinking about LEAVING FB soon.
I'm a very boring guy - Complains too much, turns 44 on this Tuesday, and really don't feel I have much to show for here in this pathetic country (USA).
Seeing MT flown to HK for a typhoon, seeing bills and bills after my mom passes, I think I'm ready to give up...
... Sorry I wasted my time.

OK ... Here it is (besides watching disturbance 95L struggle with false hope)...
... Walked into work this morning after a rather 'saving the day' (and probably the company) yesterday - Only to find a whole slew of 'attacking' emails - Next time- you should have done it --- way, and handle it --- way next time - WTF?
I know people can be in a BAD mood ... I simply answered one of the emails as "sorry, I won't do it that way again..." and another, I just HAD to, put in "Be happy you're mom and dad as still here, you have a good family, and very religious (Jewish) faith..." ... Humm did not get a response yet on that one.
Let me tell YOU guys something - MY 'mood' was not the best the past couple of weeks. Lame tropical season, mom passes away, stress at work - But I never take it out on anyone (maybe just a bitch here and there about 'shear' or lack of storms - That's how I let it out - Nyquil at bedtime and red wine seems to make me sleep better).
... With a grim possibility (job wise) I decided to eat all the taxes and fees and cash our all of my IRA (what's left of it since '94, which was HALF of what I put in then). The bonds are good, so those are OK. I know it's not good (to prematurely end an IRA), but what if I keep it in there, and when I'm 59 1/2, all the shootings and Syria BS would cause it to be 1/5th of what it was in '94 ... So with taxes and fees - Yes, I probably SAVED money. And I will most likely need it.
That's it ... Carry on....

My mother, Geraldine Collura, has passed away on Thursday Night, September 12, 2013 at 11:26 PM EDT at age 71. Since early June 2010, she fought lung cancer that spread to her brain, causing seizures. She refused any chemotherapy - And radiation / surgery earned her nearly three and a half years of quality time on this planet. During the week of September 1, 2013 she needed chemotherapy as some of the cancer came back. That was the last weekend (after skydiving) when I hugged her and felt a feeling that told me something bad was going to happen ... Leaving in tears. She got a cold later on the following week, and shortly after, on September 6 (that Friday) was in the hospital (North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach, FL) with a pneumonia. On Saturday, she slid into a rapid descent with her health, entering a coma and her vitals completely shutting down, starting with the kidneys. The last words she said was "mom..." (my grandmother). She continued on on life support and had no responses to anything in terms of improvement. Late on Thursday, September 12, she was removed from life support and brought into hospice where she passed away rather quickly, and peacefully, at 11:26 PM local time. This was very difficult - She was the closest person in my life EVER - And now she's gone. I guess God has her in his hands now... I will miss her so much. A memorial web page will be constructed for her as well when I get caught up.

Never - EVER - Ever ... Do any Microsoft Updates to Windows!!!!
I loaded a bunch of updates and then afterwards the following happened...
1). Windows 7 took 15-20 minutes to load, used to be 15 seconds or so.
2). Went on to StormTrack to post something, and Return Key does not work (that's IE 10) for you!
3). Outlook stopped working / froze, then threw an error saying 'Outlook Folder on D:\My Documents\Outlook\Outlook.pst not found!'
4). The D: drive (RAID-1 which is 2 3-TB disks data mirror) shows up as 'LOCAL DISK' and click on it and Windows Explorer hangs. Came back an hour later, still hanging - Until system rebooted (20 minutes).
Note: The data mirror contains 2.6 TB of family pics, vids, chase footage, etc - Ofcourse it's backed up on 2 other external 4 TB drives! PC is 2.66 GHz 4-core Intel, 8 GM RAM, and 4 HDD's (1 750 GB for OS, 2 3-TB for mirror, and extra 1.5 TB for spare).
Solution: Turned off Windows Update, and (fortunately) reverted to restore point (4 PM on 9/12) before the "update" ... System came back up perfectly, just had to re-synch the D: mirror. All is well.
FOG you, Microsoft - Nice try!!!!

It's official ... Today my mother dies.
She's now on full life support ... Plugs were pulled at 12:30 PM EDT.
She's been moved to hospice area in N Broward (3rd Floor) Medical Center to let God finish it.

My mom is pretty much on her way out ... She's in a coma now and they are putting her on life support.
She was so stubborn about doing that stupid chemo stuff ... She was not doing bad since June 2010 - She was smart, not doing the chemo gave her almost 3 1/2 years of "extra" time on this planet.
I am forced to accept something like this ... Like "finding" out the tropics are sheared and you won't be chasing hurricanes ... You cry a bit, then get over it, life goes on.
Death is not darkness, it's just like turning off your light when you go to sleep ... and then, the (much brighter) light is sure to come when you wake up the next day (sigh).

Trying to 'steady' myself for the unthinkable ... No, I already got over the fact there WON'T be hurricanes to chase this year ... That's accepted.
Losing my mother soon is a REAL possibility ... THAT's what I'm preparing for - Screw the shear...

We actually had a tropical storm for almost 24 hours - Unprecedented for early September (2013 being the 'fine' print)!

Finally ... I - After much deliberation - Am accepting the fact that nothing really good tropical will hit the US this year. Maybe we'll get something like a subtropical Sandy or Cat-1 ... But that's about IT guys...

Greeting the first visitors near the entrance of the park was this ominous sight - An enclosed water slide with a vertical loop! This was the only such slide in the world to feature this maneuver. I have not personally ridden this, as it was never open to the public (only for a short time). Looking like fun, this was a potential death trap (note the "hatch" installed at the bottom of the slide just before the loop). Park employees were actually paid $100 to try this back in the 80's! A test dummy sent down the slide came out the other end missing its head. Those (un)lucky enough to try this ride (during it's very brief operation) often suffered back / neck injuries - The loop is circular, not the "clothoid" (tear-drop shape) we see on roller coasters - So anyone hitting the start of the loop would incur G-forces that could cause whiplash and even spinal injuries. It remained shut-down for many years, but silently stood here at the park entrance until it closed; reminding many that Action Park meant business when it came to risks.
