ORANGE COUNTY NOISE-ABATEMENT SHORT FIELD TAKEOFF

(Click HERE If No Video Displayed Above)

This is a video clip of a departure out of sunny Orange County on January 20, 2022 (John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, or SNA) on a flight to Dallas, Texas. This airport (SNA) is one of the "scariest" airports to depart from. It requires a short taxi to the takeoff runway, usually departing south over Newport Beach, with the engines spooled up to maximum take-off / go-around (TOGA) thrust, releasing the brakes, and doing a short-field takeoff. After rotation, the plane (a Boeing 737-700) executes a quick climb to between 1,500 and 3,000 feet. At this point the plane pulls back the engine thrust rapidly and continues out over Newport Beach and the surrounding areas with a quieter noise signature.

The video requires at least a DSL connection and the latest FLASH Media Plugin for best results. This video is hosted to and linked to the YOUTUBE site (you can visit them at www.youtube.com). Click on the "play" icon in the video above if it does not start automatically.
